We deserved to win this game but missed loads of chances so have only ourselves to blame. It’s never good to lose on penalties but hopefully no-one feels too disappointed as the league is very much the priority this season. Our team was:

Edwards(GK)
Tapsfield (RB)
Benningfield (CB)
Simmons (CB)
Pragnell (LB)
Havers (RM)
Piper (CM)
Lenton (CM)
Charlton(LM)
Evans (CF) (Captain)
Head(CF)

We started brightly and deserved to take the lead after 25 minutes. A good move down the right and a cross found Stu arriving late into the box. Stu took the ball in his stride with a great first touch and finished well. They equalised soon afterwards when they crossed the ball from their right wing and their striker scored at the far post. Mark also made an excellent save from close range in a first half which we probably just shaded.

In the second half we really began to dominate as Greenway ran out of steam. We played some great football and as in previous weeks we created lots of chances. We look so much better when we keep the ball on the floor and communicate well. Unfortunately we failed to take our chances. Defensively we were solid and Adam had a good game at centre back alongside man of the match Ricky. Apart from the goal and Mark’s first half save I can’t remember Greenway having a clear cut chance. Pragnell and Taps also had good battling performances. Daragh replaced Stu after 65 minutes and Tant replaced Wendy Havers a few minutes later.

In extra time we remained dominant but didn’t actually create a really good chance. In the shoot-out they kicked first, scored, and Chris scored for us. Then they scored and Adam missed. Then they scored and Pragnell missed. Then they scored to win.

All in all though no shame in this result at all. It was another good performance and it''s just a shame we didn’t take our chances.
