Sunday XI
0 - 4
Milldean

By Paul Tanton

I rate Milldean as one of the best sides in the league and they are my tip to win the Senior Division.

If there was ever a game that summed up our season it was this one. We played well, missed some good chances (mainly due to several brilliant saves by the Milldean keeper), we picked up more injuries, we conceded a couple of poor goals and we had no luck.

For an hour of the game on Sunday we matched Milldean in every department. We competed for every ball and played some excellent football; however the game turned on its head with Milldean''s first goal which had a suspicion of offside about it (I''m being kind here so the club website doesn''t get sued). The second was slack marking and a free header, the third was probably one of the best finishes you''re likely to see at our standard of football and the fourth was just poor defending basically because our team was shell-shocked.

However we must look at the positives, the team battled hard, played some good passing football and there were several decent performances. Steve Pester again put in another captain''s display, Ray had a superb first half but was starved of the ball in the second. Dave Harrigan looked like the quality player we know is, making some excellent runs from deep.

This weekend is a massive weekend for the club, which will make or break the club season. The First XI are at home to Bridon who I know Shaun will be looking to for a good performance against them. The Second XI are away in Rochester in the Kent Cup quarter final (big big big game, the club''s last chance of silverware this season) and the Sunday XI face Valley Valiants at home in a relegation 6 pointer. All 3 of these games I want to see a positive attitude, everyone available and show a will to win.
