NEWS
Saturday Vets Reserves penalised
The Saturday Vets Reserves home league win against Warlingham Super Vets on 8 November has been awarded to the visitors, after the Southern Veterans Football League decided that FOBG were guilty of fielding an ineligible player, whom we had signed the morning of the match. We believed the paperwork had been taken care of by both parties.
The table has been adjusted to reflect the league committee's decision. With regards to club records, appearances and goals for this game will remain valid.
Under 15s' journey continues
The Under 15s Boys have already taken in Cray, Haringey and Blackheath on their LFA Under 15s Boys Junior Cup campaign. So having covered south, north and east Greater London, step in Balham FC to welcome us to Roehampton on 10 January in the fifth round (last 16).
This represents a tough draw as Balham sit in tier three of eight Under 15s divisions in the Surrey Youth League having won promotion last term. Their mens' first XI play at step 5 of the league pyramid. Even so, Seb Favata's side is more than capable of making further progress in the competition.
Weekend Round-up: 13/14 December - mixed cup emotions!
It was a quiet Saturday at the Guild with only the Saturday Vets Reserves having a fixture. They saw off Independent Vets Red 4-0 in the league at Farrow Fields, with the goals supplied by regular marksmen Jimmy Layng (2), Chisa Mkala and Lawrence Thompson.
Sunday, however, saw a very different story.
The Sunday XI progressed to the fourth round of the Presidents Charity Cup 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at home to Long Lane. Sam Bakare scored a second half equaliser before penalties were converted by Warburton, Bakare, Purdie, Cumber, Lewi Lee, Brown and Francis. Charlie Figg ended the drama with a fine save from the visitors' seventh kick. Vince Wray's side will travel to play either AFC Wilgar or Old Langlians in the next round.
Ecstasy turned to agony for the Sunday WESFA XI in their Plumstead Challenge Cup second round encounter away to Eltham Lions. They were leading through a George Osman strike until a last gasp home goal took the game to penalties, which went the way of Eltham.
The Red Vets had no game but the Yellow Vets were fully occupied, winning 6-2 away to Santos Vets. Billy Morgan hit a hat-trick, Kypros Michael grabbed a brace and Kieran Hartnett was the other scorer.
The Under 15s Boys finished their year off with a 3-2 home league win against Cray Wanderers Ambers. Mason Terry got his first FOBG goal with the other two coming from regular scorers Tommy Gray and Chaz Favata.
The Under 13s Mustangs lost 2-1 at home in the league to Warlingham Colts, Oliver Pearce on target.
The U10s Stallions suffered a 1-0 loss in their Autumn Bronze Chalice Final away to Lewisham Tigers Reds. The boys were very disappointed but there will be more opportunities of silverware ahead hopefully.
The Under 9s Foals played a ladder game at Farrow Fields.
First XI January fixtures
The First XI have been allocated three home games, one away and one to be confirmed in January in the new batch of fixtures released by the Kent County League.
Let's hope the weather is kind!
